About The Summa Foundation

The Summa Foundation

Our story

Over the past decade, Summa Equity has shown that it’s possible to address global challenges while generating strong financial returns. But markets alone cannot solve every challenge. Some solutions are simply too nascent or too risky to attract commercial capital. Without support, they never reach scale.

That’s why The Summa Foundation exists. We’re an independent charitable foundation promoting thriving societies and nature. Our role is to act as an impact multiplier, deploying catalytic capital to address gaps that markets cannot yet fill on their own. In practical terms, we add a second layer of impact alongside what Summa’s funds already deliver, supporting early-stage solutions that may develop into scalable businesses.

The Summa Foundation is an independent charitable foundation. It was established alongside Summa Equity and draws on its sector expertise and networks, while funding decisions rest with the Foundation’s own board.

This impact is embedded in Summa’s model. The Foundation owns 10% of Summa Equity at the management company level. That ownership is permanent and economically aligned with the long-term success of the platform.

Importantly, the Foundation does not alter fund economics or distract from investment focus. On the contrary, it provides a clear, separate structure that reinforces Summa’s thematic edge, talent attraction, networks, and reputation.

Our vision is to create a world that we want to pass on to the next generation.

The Summa Foundation addresses global challenges that markets alone cannot solve, and helps promising solutions progress from early-stage innovation to lasting, scalable impact.
